Penang Sports Club (Kelab Sukan Pulau Pinang) is marking its 90th anniversary with a public Open Day on Saturday 31 October 2026, from 10am to 5pm at its grounds on Jalan Utama, George Town. The club is inviting the public to discover its sporting heritage, facilities and community – a rare chance for non-members to look around one of Penang's long-standing private clubs.
According to the Penang Global Tourism listing, the day will feature sports activities, chess competitions, health and wellness programmes, and food including special Open Day menus, with plenty of chances for the community to get involved. It is the sort of easy-going outing that suits families with sporty children, retirees curious about club life, or anyone weighing up a membership.
Admission terms have not been published, so check with the club before you go (04-229 7834 / 04-229 4541, admin@pgsports.club). If you are keen on the chess competition, ask early about registration and timings, as tournaments usually fill their boards ahead of the day.
Weekend traffic along Jalan Utama is usually manageable in the morning, so aim to arrive before lunch for the fullest programme. Bring sports attire and a water bottle if you plan to join any of the activities, and leave room for the anniversary menu.
