Soya, the Malaysian creator behind the long-running Mandarin YouTube channel 手癢計劃 (roughly "itchy hands project"), is celebrating ten years online with a four-city music meet-up tour – and the Penang stop lands at The FOUNDERS on Jalan Hutton on Friday, 30 October 2026 at 8pm.
Over the past decade the channel has moved from cooking mishaps and everyday-life videos into original songs, and this tour is built around that music. Expect a relaxed, fan-meeting style evening of about 100 minutes where she performs songs written over the last few years, chats with fans (who call themselves 癢粉) and probably shares a few stories from the channel's many kitchen disasters and house moves. The show is in Mandarin and pitched as pop-indie.
Ticket options start at RM90 for entry, with RM100 and RM120 packages that bundle in dessert and a drink, which suits the café-style venue. It is a small-room show rather than a big concert, so it is best for existing fans, Mandarin-speaking families and anyone who likes intimate singer-songwriter gigs.
Jalan Hutton sits in the heart of George Town's café belt, so make an evening of it: Penang Road, Chulia Street and the Kimberley Street hawkers are all a short walk away for supper afterwards. Street parking around Hutton Lane fills quickly on Friday nights – consider e-hailing in, or parking at Komtar or Prangin Mall and walking.
