The Penang Ferry Run is a waterfront race on Sunday 29 November 2026, starting at 6.45am from the Penang Ferry Museum at Pengkalan Weld, George Town. Organised by the museum itself, the event celebrates Penang's ferry heritage with routes centred around the museum and the George Town seafront.
Runners can choose between 5km and 10km, each offered in competitive and fun-run formats. Fees range from RM38 to RM65 depending on the category. The entry pack includes an event T-shirt (with a customisable design option) and a finisher medal. In the competitive categories, the top five finishers in every category receive cash prizes; podium positions are for Malaysian participants only.
Registration closes on 10 November 2026 via the Howei platform. Race pack collection is on Saturday 28 November, 10am–6pm, at the Penang Ferry Museum – a good excuse to explore the museum and the old ferry terminal area the day before. Routes are subject to approval from the authorities.
Weld Quay is busy on weekends, so arrive early if driving. Runners from Butterworth may find the ferry the easiest way over; check the first sailing time before committing. After the run, the heritage core and its kopitiams are only a short walk away for a well-earned breakfast.
