Alma, the fast-growing residential area on the eastern side of Bukit Mertajam, has a Sunday pasar malam listed as 'Pasar Malam Alma Ahad' in the JomPasarMalam directory of Seberang Perai night markets. An older 2015 list of mainland pasar malam also places a Sunday market in Alma, describing its location simply as 'Alma, Maybank'.
As a neighbourhood market, expect what Penang Monthly describes as the essence of pasar malam: a fixed weekly slot close to residential areas, serving mainly local residents. That usually means hawker food, kuih, snacks, fruit and vegetables, plus cheap clothing and household items. It is a convenient Sunday dinner option for families in Alma, Bukit Mertajam and Juru.
What we could not confirm: neither source gives a full street address or opening hours, and we did not find a 2026 news report or official MBSP schedule for this market. Most Seberang Perai pasar malam start trading in the late afternoon and are busiest from about 7pm, but please treat timing as unconfirmed. We will update this page when we can verify the exact site.
Tips: ask locally or search 'Pasar Malam Alma' in your maps app before setting off; bring cash or an e-wallet. If you want a well-documented Sunday market on the mainland, Nibong Tebal's long Sunday pasar malam on Jalan Sungai Daun is another option. Schedule sources: JomPasarMalam directory and IN4-Marketing (2015).
