Sunway Carnival Mall in Seberang Jaya, which has been billed as Penang's busiest shopping destination, has a fresh batch of kiosks and stores listed under its 'New in Town' banner. Most of them are snack-and-sip spots on the Lower Ground and Second Floors, so they are easy to try in one visit.
On the Lower Ground Floor, Ticco (LG-K09) is a dessert-and-coffee brand whose signature is the swiss roll, paired with coffee brewed from 100% single-origin El Salvador beans. ChaPanda (LG-K03A) is a modern tea brand from Chengdu, China, known for its Fresh Fruit Tea series made with fresh fruit and premium tea bases. Kopi Rakyat (LG-K17) is a homegrown Malaysian coffee brand serving local-style coffee, signature drinks and selected food under the tagline 'Kopi Rakyat, Untuk Rakyat'.
Head up to the Second Floor for Jilatu (2F-K05), which makes handcrafted Italian-style gelato with a stretchy texture using fresh milk and no added water, and plays with Chinese ingredients such as Wuchang rice and salted egg yolk – look out for its Knock-Knock Cup. Gadget fans can also drop by Insta360 (2F-K26) for hands-on demos of action cameras, 360° cameras and gimbals.
The mall is open 10am–10pm daily. The mall did not list exact opening dates or menu prices for these newcomers, so treat this as a 'what's new' guide and check each brand's own channels for promotions.
