Northern Seberang Perai has a new weekend hangout. Setia Fontaines Heritage Park, the green centrepiece of S P Setia's township in Bertam, Kepala Batas, was officially opened on 19 September 2026 by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib.
The developer describes it as a landscaped heritage park of about 100 acres (40.5 hectares) built around a large man-made lake, with S P Setia's township page also highlighting a musical fountain that it bills as the largest in northern Malaysia. Buletin Mutiara's visit found a calm, open space of greenery and water that was already drawing visitors from beyond the district – including from Sungai Petani in Kedah, after the landscape went viral on TikTok.
Locals use it for jogging, brisk walks and morning aerobics, with regulars arriving as early as 6am on weekends, and it has become a backdrop for wedding photo shoots. Floodlights along the walking track stay on until 10pm, so after-work jogs are possible. A commercial strip nearby has cafes including ZUS Coffee, Squid Boy, Antie Jenny and Lambaian Cafe for a post-walk drink.
It is a good option for families in Kepala Batas, Bertam, Penaga and southern Kedah who want a free-and-easy outdoor outing without crossing to the island. Entry fees and fountain show times were not stated in the sources we checked, so confirm with S P Setia (04-375 2255) if you are planning around the fountain.
