Penang Weekend Markets & 市集 Guide

Updated

Weekend markets in Penang come in two flavours. One is the 市集-style craft and maker market, where you buy from the person who made it. The other is the old-school flea market and weekend pasar malam. This guide covers both, island and mainland.

Pop-up 市集 at malls and cafes are listed under markets & bazaars as they are announced, so check there for one-off dates.

Craft markets and 市集

Hin Market at Hin Bus Depot in George Town gathers local makers every Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Entry is free.

Flea markets

Lorong Kulit is Penang's best-known flea market (pasar karat) for secondhand odds and ends. Go early, as it is a morning affair.

Saturday and Sunday night markets

If you want food rather than crafts, these pasar malam run on Saturday or Sunday evenings.

Markets we could not confirm

Several markets that used to run, such as the Little Penang Street Market on Upper Penang Road, the Lebuh Keng Kwee heritage night market and the Straits Quay organic farmers' market, have no current schedule we could verify. Time Out lists the Little Penang Street Market as closed. We'll add them back if organisers publish new dates.
