Halloween night in George Town gets a proper blues soundtrack this year. Midnight Mojo Union (MMU) is bringing its Backroom Blues series to Penang for a Penang Chapter at Chulia Court on Saturday, 31 October 2026, and the headline act is a big one: Blues Gang, the veteran Malaysian blues band that many of us grew up hearing on the radio.
According to the official poster listed by Penang Global Tourism, the line-up runs to six bands and two solo acts, with organisers promising "10 hours of blues". The poster carries the tagline "This is a blues festival!" and also features the MMU Lepakhaus and Chulia Court The Tavern logos, so think of it as a long bar-room session rather than a seated concert.

Chulia Street is lined with hawker stalls, bars and hostels, so it is easy to grab dinner nearby, step out for a breather between sets and carry on. If you want to dress up for Halloween, nothing on the poster says you can't.
