Tanjung Bungah Night Market (Tuesday Pasar Malam)

Tuesday is Tanjung Bungah's turn on the island's night-market calendar. The pasar malam (夜市) shares its site with the neighbourhood's daytime wet market, set back from the busy main road, which gives it a more relaxed feel than the big tourist market further up the coast at Batu Ferringhi.

This is very much a residents' market. Stalls sell general goods – clothes, hardware, stationery and household bits – alongside a good line-up of food. Travel guides mention fried chicken, satay and even xiaolongbao, and Zafigo notes that local dishes here come at reasonable prices. It is a handy dinner stop if you are staying in the condo and hotel belt between Tanjung Tokong and Batu Ferringhi.

Sources agree on the timing: roughly 5:30pm to 10pm (My Weekend Plan 2026, Zafigo 2024 and Travels With Sun). Penang Seaview describes it as running every Tuesday evening from 6pm. Come after 6:30pm for the full spread of stalls, or nearer closing for a quieter browse.

Getting there: parking is notoriously tight, so consider Grab or the bus. Penang Seaview notes that Rapid Penang buses 101 and 102 link Batu Ferringhi with the Tanjung Bungah market.
