Farlim's Wednesday pasar malam is one of the largest night markets on Penang Island. It sets up along Medan Angsana in Bandar Baru Air Itam, beside an open field lined with mature angsana trees – a setting Penang Monthly highlighted in its September 2026 feature on the state's pasar malam culture.
The draw here is the sheer amount of food. Guides list sugarcane juice, tau fu fa, char koay kak, satay, yong tau foo, fried radish cake, assam laksa and lok lok, and Time Out also mentions Japanese crepes. There are food trucks too, plus merchandise stalls with clothes, souvenirs and everyday goods. Travels With Sun notes that prices here tend to be slightly higher than at smaller neighbourhood markets – the trade-off for the variety.
Timing: Zafigo and Travels With Sun give 5pm to 11pm; Time Out's older listing says 6:30pm to 11pm. Either way, the market is in full swing from around 7pm, and the walkways become very congested at peak hour.
Tips: arrive early if you want to find a seat at the food area and a parking spot; families with prams may prefer the first hour. It is a short drive from Air Itam, so you can combine it with an evening visit to Kek Lok Si. Bring cash or an e-wallet and a bag for takeaways.
