Queensbay Mall’s Deepavali theme this year is “Wings of Light”, built around a peacock in full display and the glow of the diya oil lamp. The mall says to expect vibrant dance performances, family-friendly workshops and community activities through the festive season, with activities listed from 15 October to 9 November and redemptions running until 15 November 2026.
The headline performances are “Dance & Rhythm” sets by Arumugam Dance Academy at the Ground Floor Central Atrium at 3pm on 25 October, 31 October and 1 November. Kids get two Q-Kids Club workshops on Saturday 7 November: a Rangoli Sand Art Workshop at 2pm and a Peacock Felt Keychain Workshop at 4pm, both at the same atrium. Check with the customer service counter on whether you need to register or be a Q-Kids member.
For shoppers, the redemption side includes festive packets and shopping vouchers, plus two treats on the posters we saw: a free Lucky Cup ice cream from 6 November onwards with a minimum spend of RM88, and Madam Kwan’s keropok ubi kayu from 8 November onwards with a minimum spend of RM128, both in a single receipt.
Queensbay is the island’s biggest mall and a natural stop if you live in Bayan Lepas, Sungai Ara or just came over the Penang Bridge. Combine the 3pm dance with an early dinner, or let the kids do the workshops while you finish your Deepavali shopping. Weekend afternoons are crowded; the waterfront side of the mall is pleasant for an evening stroll afterwards.
