One of Penang’s best-known malls is celebrating a quarter-century. To mark its 25th anniversary, Gurney Plaza is running a Japan-themed Top Spender Rewards campaign from 15 October 2026 to 3 January 2027 – neatly covering Deepavali, the year-end school holidays, Christmas and New Year shopping.
The mechanics are simple: you must be a CapitaPlus member, and each single receipt of RM50 and above counts towards the contest. The grand prize is a trip to Japan worth RM15,000 for one winner. Premium prizes include SK Jewellery 999.9 pure gold bars for ten winners, RM1,000 Watsons cash vouchers for seven winners, and RM1,000 Mercato cash vouchers for seven winners.
There are also two redemptions you can pick up along the way at the Information Counter: an RM10 Mercato cash voucher with a spend of RM250 and above (from 1 October 2026, up to five redemptions per shopper), and an exclusive Longines cap from 1 November 2026 onwards with a spend of RM1,250 and above. Redemptions allow a maximum of two combined same-day receipts and run while stocks last.
This one is really for regular Gurney shoppers and anyone planning big-ticket year-end purchases – phones, appliances, festive hampers – who might as well earn entries along the way. The mall’s seasonal decor (Deepavali now, Christmas later) gives you a reason to keep dropping by, and the Gurney Drive hawker centre across the road is perfect for a post-shopping supper.
