The Eastern & Oriental Hotel has been part of Christmas in Penang for well over a century. Its November–December 2026 dining guide, The Echo ed.93, lists a full run of festive buffets at Sarkies, the hotel's main buffet restaurant.
The festive dinners take place on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (Thursday 24 and Friday 25 December) and again on New Year's Eve (Thursday 31 December), from 6:30pm to 10pm. They cost RM248 nett for adults and RM148 nett for children and senior citizens. For a daytime meal, the Christmas Day and Boxing Day lunches (25 and 26 December) and the New Year's Day lunch (1 January 2027) run from 12:30pm to 3pm at RM198 nett for adults and RM138 nett for children and seniors.
Drinks packages are available at every session. Add RM188 nett for free-flow wines, beers and house spirits, or RM388 nett if you want bubbly as well.
Tips: Children below 6 dine free. The senior rate is only for Malaysian citizens or residents, permanent residents and MM2H holders. Groups of 10 or more pay a 50% security deposit. Book through the Festive Desk (10am–6pm) on +604 222 2000 or fbcentral.resv@eohotels.com, or call Sarkies on +604 222 2151. On these dates the regular Sarkies international buffet is not available. Farquhar Street is narrow and gets jammed, so allow time to find parking or come by e-hailing.
