The Penang International Science Fair (PISF) is the Penang Science Cluster's big annual celebration of science and technology, and the 2026 edition runs on Saturday and Sunday, 21–22 November, from 9am to 5pm at SPICE Arena and its concourse. This year's theme is "Innovation in the Age of AI".
The fair brings together young innovators, teachers and industry professionals, with industry exhibits, hands-on workshops, student competitions and MakerFest, a showcase of maker projects. Workshops are run by Penang Science Cluster and by MakerLab schools, while local tech companies show off what they make in Penang and the science behind it.
Best of all for families, the public does not need to register – just turn up during opening hours. Schools register separately through the PISF website. Some competitions and programme details were still marked "coming soon" when we checked, so look at the website or the PISF Facebook page (facebook.com/pscpisf) in the week before for the final line-up.
Arrive early in the day if your children want to join hands-on workshops, as popular sessions can fill up quickly. Weekends at SPICE can be busy, so allow time for parking and bring water bottles. It is a brilliant, free way to spark curiosity in primary and secondary schoolers, and a useful scouting trip for parents thinking about STEM enrichment classes.
