AUTOMEX, the automation and smart-manufacturing exhibition that has long run alongside METALTECH in Kuala Lumpur, is bringing a Penang edition to Setia SPICE Convention Centre from 3 to 5 November 2026. The organiser, Informa Markets Malaysia, pitches it as a gateway to automation technology and smart manufacturing solutions, which makes Bayan Lepas – right next to the Free Industrial Zone – a very natural home for it.
Expect booths grouped around industrial automation, robot technology, smart manufacturing, semiconductor and electronic components, precision metrology, machine vision and R&D services. There is also a smart logistics and supply chain segment covering automated guided vehicles, conveyor systems, automated storage and warehouse management. If your factory floor is thinking about cobots, AGVs or upgrading inspection lines, this is a good place to compare suppliers in one go.
This is primarily a business-to-business trade show, so it is best suited to engineers, plant managers, procurement teams, system integrators and students in engineering fields rather than casual weekend browsers. Pre-register through the organiser website before you go; daily opening hours and the visitor policy had not been published on the pages we checked, so confirm those before heading down.
Getting there: Setia SPICE sits in Bayan Baru, a short drive from the Penang Bridge and the airport. The complex has its own parking, and Queensbay Mall and the Bayan Baru food court area are close by for lunch after the show.
